New Beginnings

For over 20 years, the Balmoral has successfully sailed with Paddle Steamer Waverley, where together they have justified the restoration of piers at Penarth, Clevedon, and Ilfracombe. Yet after twenty-five years of ownership, to allow a clear focus, a separate charity was formed to take over Balmoral and look after the ship in Bristol. 

After two years of not sailing, money was raised to carry out the necessary work on the ship. Donations from many enabled Balmoral to sail once again in 2015, 2016 and 2017. 

The ship was then awarded National Historic Flagship of the Year for 2016.

Today the Charity works towards restoring Balmoral to full pleasure steaming operation, where she will shortly be needing funds from people to return to passenger operation.
